How long does it take to make?
Most gowns are made to order and ship within 10 business days. If you are in a hurry, please feel free to contact me before placing your order. I will do everything I can to accommodate your plans and prepare your gown as quickly as possible. Occasionally, I add ready-to-ship dresses to the shop—be sure to check, as the garment you urgently need might be ready right now.
Which size should I choose?
The birthing ritual shirts feature an oversized, relaxed silhouette, with sizes varying based on bust measurements. You can also consider your usual clothing size. When in doubt, choose the larger size rather than the smaller one, as the body changes during the final months of pregnancy and postpartum. Models are tailored for a height of approximately 165–172 cm; feel free to get in touch if a custom length is needed.
Where do the women embroider?
Stitches can be woven anywhere inspiration leads. It is a mindful ritual of free, therapeutic stitching, allowing you to sew blessings and well-wishes directly into the fabric. You may choose to embroider the wider ends of the long front ties, honoring childbirth as a sacred act of release and "untying." The central slit of the gown ends at the very cradle of life—embrace this sacred space with your embroidery. Placing stitches around this opening carries a beautiful intention, as this is where the newborn will find strength, nourishment, and the first warmth of life.
What is a Mother Blessing?
Birth is a threshold—a deep, transformative passage for a woman. The tender period before and after childbirth is an inner transition that calls for a profound sense of safety and support.
A Mother Blessing is a ceremony celebrating the preparation for birth. As the significant time approaches, it is gathered and organized for the expectant mother by her closest circle of women, friends, or doula. Unlike a baby shower that focuses on gifts for the baby, this ritual honors the mother herself and her unique transition into childbirth and motherhood. During this meaningful ritual, womanhood is celebrated, heartfelt support is shared, and symbolic ceremonies are performed to help the mother prepare for birth. Within this safe and holding circle of women, the mother-to-be can pause, listen to her inner self, and emotionally and spiritually prepare to cross this sacred threshold of transformation.
Some call this gathering a Blessingway, a term that belongs to a sacred Diné (Navajo) ceremony, which is a different, old tradition.

In the weeks leading up to the Mother Blessing, the shirt, crafted from natural linen, travels from hand to hand. Upon it, each woman from the mother’s circle hand-embroiders personal words of support, symbols of protection, or signs of strength. During the ceremony, the birthing shirt, infused with these sewn blessings and well-wishes, is gifted to the mother-to-be as a tangible token of love, sisterhood, and trust.
